ONE boosts reefer fleet

Ocean Network Express (ONE) is expanding its reefer fleet by adding 6,500 new units.

 

Ocean Network Express (ONE) is expanding its reefer fleet by adding 6,500 new units.

The 6,500 units, which include 500 units equipped with advanced controlled atmosphere technology, have been added to meet the growing demand for refrigerated cargo around the world which is expected to continue to grow in 2022, according to a statement.

Record number of 1,222 reefer containers onboard, which were discharged in Hong Kong

Hapag-Lloyd’s Manzanillo Express arrived in Hong Kong port from Valparaiso, in Chile with a record number of 1,222 reefer containers onboard, which were discharged in Hong Kong.

This was the highest number of cherries ever discharged in a single call to Hong Kong.

Hong Kong is a Free Port, enabling the fast dispatch of containers from the terminals. This means it is a favoured port for perishable produce.

Fresh Del Monte have chosen Daikin’s ZeSTIA reefer units for its busy trades between Central America and the USA. The order of 2,200 Daikin ZeSTIA reefer machinery units includes 10 that are fitted with its CA (controlled atmosphere) technology.  This is the first order for reefer machinery that Daikin has booked from Fresh Del Monte.
