The pandemic has driven a shift in China’s seafood strategy on overseas imports. As a result of concerns on frozen food safety and changes to distribution channels, the government is now looking for local alternatives rather than imports. Chinese seafood suppliers are being offered assistance with marketing and training. The government is also making it harder to import seafood, so consumers have to look for domestic alternatives.
