Regional carrier Transmar has launched a new container shipping service for refrigerated and dry container cargo, connecting Egyptian exporters via its ‘home port’ of Adabiya on Egypt’s east coast with the Yemeni ports of Aden and Hodeida.
The new service aims particularly at reefer cargo including fruits, vegetables, dairy products, and pharmaceuticals. Transmar’s ‘one stop shop’ service for perishables includes reefer containers, gensets and real-time cargo tracking with temperature monitoring.
With a dedicated fleet sailing between the Red Sea and the Gulf, Transmar now covers all major Red Sea ports, including trade connections between Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Djibouti, and now Yemen.
Ahmed El Ahwal, GM at Transmar said: “We are proud to extend assistance to Egypt’s agricultural, food manufacturing and pharmaceutical sectors by expanding our refrigerated cargo service connecting Egypt to KSA, UAE and now Yemen. We have witnessed a rise in Egyptian agri-food exports over the past period and are looking forward to supporting Egyptian exporters in opening new markets with neighbouring countries.” The new service will also play a role in tackling food insecurity in Yemen.
