Our 15th event marking a significant milestone in the development of bringing together notable and challenging speakers in the cold chain , facilitating networking and bringing out thoughts in an innovative environment.

“Good things come in small packages”

It was a pleasure for me (Alan Robertson) to lead the Cool team in Genoa this year at Cool Logistics event – our 15th anniversary – celebrating and challenging all matters cool. This was a significant event for us :-

· A first time that Cool Logistics had held an event in Italy and as part of |Genoa Shipping Week , and including Columbus Day

· Our 15th event marking a significant milestone in the development of bringing together notable and challenging speakers in the cold chain , facilitating networking and bringing out thoughts in an innovative environment.

· Delighted to host a visit from Annika Kroon representing the EU as Head of Maritime

· Celebrate the 90th anniversary of BIC and to be fascinated by a presentation at our gala event which they kindly sponsored by a presenter who knew and worked with Malcolm Maclean widely recognised as the founder of containerisation

When the event was planned deliberately we aimed to focus on some new thoughts and new presentations. Indeed we placed innovation at key points in our agenda. There were so many high points as a result of our planning :-

· Cool logistics globally depends on achieving and delivering on a widescale understanding of compliance and successful “handshakes” between partners in the chain – at the event we explored what that means in compliance and operationally for the world of Pharmaceuticals where at the extreme edge of shipment of vaccines and live human products . There were some lessons for all in those presentations.

· Meaningful sustainability and measurement of that was an important presentation and highlighted how, why, where and what it means for all of us involved in cool logistics given that this is a broad industry often criticised for perhaps not being sutainable enough.

· Keynote presentations on the forecast outlook for cool logistics and the wider reefer market developments and the implications for asset utilisation and supply were delivered from three different standpoints and the debate that followed was a pleasure to chair – it was great to have this panel with us in Genoa.

It was great to announce next years events in Rotterdam and Dunkirk as face to face events and we have begun work on those and also on online ideas in particular looking forward to where cool logistics may be at by 2038 – our 30th anniversary
