Fusarium TR4 has now been detected in three Latin American countries and Andean banana-producing nations are backing Global Alliance Against TR4 to work together to combat this deadly disease.

TR4 is the greatest threat to the banana industry ever seen and without coordinated efforts to combat the disease, banana crops that provide a vital food source for over 400m people globally could be at risk.

The Alliance’s actions are based on three fronts: prevention and training, genetic improvement and control methods.
