Jef Huyben started his professional career as a young forwarder in Antwerp in 1981. He moved to Africa (Benin, Zaïre) in 1985 and worked there for the Continental Lines Group until 1988. After finishing his contract, he landed in Zeebrugge where he started his short-sea activities. After a few years working with Edmond Depaire (the former forwarding division of Belgian Railways) he joined DD Trans, a growing traction company in Zeebrugge where he was responsible for operational management. When the owners of DD Trans became the main shareholder of ECS European Containers, he switched to this company. After starting in operations, he moved to a more commercial role. In the meantime ECS had evolved to an European intermodal operator. As CCO Jef is responsible for Business Development and is managing ECS’ major key accounts.
